AT&T Cares
An AT&T Cares
Grant was recently awarded to Senior Volunteer Services in
Broward County. The $5,000 check will go to helping train
seniors to use computers. After successful completion of the
program, each senior is given a computer to take home. All
of the seniors in the program are also volunteers at area
schools.

The White
Sands Council Pioneers contacted more than
200 individuals to spread the word about
Breast Cancer Awareness.
They also
recently sponsored a Children's Book
Drive. The
Pioneers donated
500 books to the area foster children's program,
bringing the latest count to more than 6000
books.
In celebration of Black History Month,
White Sands members distributed
recipe booklets from Kraft,
donated by Wal-Mart, to various AT&T work
groups. The books
featured articles on Black Colleges and
Universities, with
school Marching Band Leaders sharing their
legacy of music, culture, outreach and family
recipes.
Ocean Shore Life
Member Club Pioneers contributed 26 Hug A Bears
and 45 Heart Pillows to the Children's Advocacy
Center in Daytona Beach. Pioneers in
the group also helped the Turie T. Small
Elementary School gear up for PUTR. The school is
planning to use the program for its after school
reading program which will be for advanced third,
fourth and fifth graders. The after school program
is scheduled to begin in a few weeks.

The Central
Panhandle Club visited their adopted school,
honoring the teacher of the month with a gift card. The
presentation from the Pioneers was featured on the
school's closed circuit television with the
entire school watching.
The South Florida Council
donated $500 to the Carrie Brazer Center's annual
fundraiser campaign. The donation will go towards
training and educational therapy to children with autism
and related disabilities.
Six Tampa Mixed Club
Pioneers purchased and prepared dinner for 15
families staying at the Ronald McDonald house. They served
delicious spaghetti, salad, plantains, and brownies.
Fifty Pioneers volunteered 230 hours at the
Gasparilla Distance Classic and Marathon in Tampa. They
handed out water to more than 5,000 runners and walkers
participating in the 8th annual marathon and half
marathon.
